Purchase of an in vivo electrophysiology recording system

Aarhus Universitet

The equipment to be purchased will be used to perform in vivo electrophysiological recordings of the rodent's brain (both mice and rats) for basic research use. The laboratory that is purchasing it has a background on in vitro electrophysiology and in behavioural techniques, and for these reasons the in vivo electrophysiological recording system will provide a bridge to link these techniques and bind the results together. The system will thus be used for both anaesthetised (wired) and freely moving (wireless) preparations. There is a wide range of purposes to which the system could offer a solution to; amongst them are the direct comparison between the behavioural results and the electrophysiological data (linking neuronal activity to behaviour in a simultaneous manner) and the active control of stimulation and recording timing in different tests (by online monitoring of the neuronal activity).
