The EEA is a knowledge organization, and one of its main strategic objectives is to “Deliver targeted inputs to inform policy and public discussions, by organising and communicating knowledge on responses, including innovative solutions to societal challenges". The EEA’s online presence is its primary tool to achieve this objective. From 2021 onwards, the EEA is starting a project to improve its online presence, with the goal to increase the impact of its data and knowledge. The knowledge produced by the EEA is shared online through a variety of products, including but not limited to: PDF reports, HTML reports, online briefings and articles, news, interactive maps and data visualisations, online videos, and several hybrids between the previous products. The main services and tasks/deliverables are: user experience design, creation and maintenance of a design system, web design support for various web development teams and projects across EEA as well as web content management support.
