Framework agreement regarding dual band antenna (VHF/UHF)

Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization

The Danish Defence is in the process of upgrading and extending its communications capabilities. The new capabilities will enable the military vehicles to enter into a modern, network based communication- and information system on the battlefield.
During an operation, several communication systems on each vehicle will simultaneously need to transmit and receive data and voice signals. This will happen both from static positions and on the move. It is important that each vehicles can fill its role without any communication break-down or limitations caused by interference between the vehicle systems and/or antennas.
The increasing number of systems leads to an increasing number of antennas to be fitted onto military vehicles. A part of this process is optimization of the vehicles' topside and positioning of antennas. The work includes approximately 1 500 vehicles during the next two years.
The main reason for using dual band antennas with integrated GPS antenna is to limit the number of antennas on the vehicles, without degrading the performance of radios compared with traditional antennas.
Each dual band antenna will be used for one VHF radio and one UHF radio at the same time.
