Acquisition of a Laser System for the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen

Københavns Universitet

Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen is planning to acquire a low-noise tunable laser system, required for quantum optics experiments, in which effects of quantum noise are to be observed. The laser must be tunable over a wide range, so as to allow matching its emission wavelength to the systems under study. At the same time, the output light must be free of classical noise at high Fourier frequencies, so that effects of quantum noise are not obscured by classical noise. In order to obtain controlled tuning, a wavelength-meter should be included. It must be possible to control the system, in particular the emission wavelength, through a software interface. It is planned to lock the laser frequency to that of an optical cavity. To this end, it must be possible to fine-tune the laser frequency with fast actuators controlled by analogue inputs.
