Collaboration with Public Health Nutrition Training Institution to strengthen the problem-based teaching and learning as well as institutional capacity
Since 1992, Danida has provided support to the Health Sector in Mozambique through 5-year programmes. In 2010, this support was expanded to include nutrition. A new programme (phase V) started mid-2013, where Danida supports among other nutrition activities the capacity strengthening of in public health nutrition expertise in addition to health and HIV/AIDS related activities.
Danida is seeking to collaborate with an Training institution/Academic institution/University to provide technical assistance for the University Lurio in Nampula to facilitate an increased capacity and quality of the education of the public health nutritionists in Mozambique as part of scaling up nutrition education capacity for the implementation of the multisectoral plan for chronic malnutrition reduction.
The overall aim of Danida assistance is that GOM (MoH, SETSAN, and at least 1 province) will be more effective and efficient in the implementation of the MAPRCM.
The policy and technical dialogue on public health nutrition training in general and specifically the development of a curriculum for public health nutritionists will be part of the assignment of University Lurio. Techncial Assistance will be provided on an ‘as requested' basis and may be in areas of curriculum development, teaching and learning, management support and liaison with support to provincial nutrition plans and implementation and supportive supervision of provincial training institutions.
The service provider(s) should show:
— Significant experience with designing of problem-based teaching and learning material and design training courses at Bachelor, Master and preferably PhD level in the area of public health nutrition and food security at certificate, Bachelor, Masters and preferably PhD level;
— Experience in Action Research on Public Health Nutrition and Food Security;
— Experience in monitoring teaching and learning performance and establishing monitoring system within the area of nutrition and food security;
— Ability to provide management support , including public financial management and monitoring;
— Ability to provide support in strategic planning and working in multi-sectorial, multicultural and complex environments.
