Big Data Based Digital Infrastructure for Smart Cities
Today, there is an abundance of data ('big data') on public and private consumption patterns (e.g. electricity, water and heating), traffic patterns and other types of data which – jointly or individually – contains a major potential to optimize consumption and usage patterns in an environmentally beneficial way. Provided that such big data can be centrally processed, distributed, anonymized and made generally accessible, Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster is conducting this competitive dialogue based on the assumption that this type of big data can be used as a basis for new products and systems designed to provide savings, efficiency and environmentally beneficial solutions in cities and urban areas (e.g. by reducing CO2 emissions and pollution). The purpose of this competitive dialogue procedure will be to develop and realize this 'hidden' big data potential by presenting a number of pilot applications based on available big data from the public and/or the private sector which has been processed in a new and easy accessible infrastructure. Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster will facilitate the access to certain data sets during the dialogue phase.
During the competitive dialogue procedure Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster and the selected candidates will develop the main ideas and methods to ensure and commercialize a big data digital infrastructure for smart cities in Denmark, resulting in the award of a contract to design, build and operate the big data digital infrastructure hub and a number of pilot applications, demonstrating the potential in the new infrastructure (subject to specifications to be determined during the dialogue phase). The winning participant's project proposal must be viable and commercially sound but will also be co-sponsored by Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster and partners (subject to sponsor funding received by Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster and delivery of requested pilot applications to the partners which should demonstrate the possibilities in the digital infrastructure).
