Precision aerial delivery system

Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization

DALO would like to acquire a Precision Aerial Delivery System (PADS) for aerial delivery of payloads weighting between 700 lbs and 10 000 lbs. PADS is herein defined as a high altitude, offset bundle delivery system that consists of a mission planning (MP) system, a global positioning system (GPS) retransmission system and one or more steerable parachute systems, incorporating autonomous navigation in the form of one or two Airborne Guidance Unit(s) (AGU). The MP system consists of a laptop (or another handheld computational device), which is able to compute an Air Release Point (ARP) and Planned Point of Impact (PPI) for the PADS by means of software capable of mission planning utilizing weather data and aircraft/PADS performance data. The GPS retransmission system facilitates the retransmission of navigational data from the aircrafts own GPS system to the AGU(s) internal GPS while onboard in the aircraft's cargo bay. The AGU(s) incorporates an autonomous GPS guidance system, which is able to steer the parachute(s) carrying the drop load and AGU(s) to the PPI on a Drop Zone (DZ) MP system, GPS retransmission, AGU(s) and parachute system(s) is referred to as the PADS package. The PADS and MP system are to be put into service and maintained at Aalborg Air Base. A total of 10 AGUs, 10 reusable parachutes and 6 MP systems are required. A total of 4 GPS retransmission systems are required. One GPS retransmission system is to be permanently installed by the supplier, in each of the 4 RDAF C-130J aircrafts stationed at Aalborg Air base.
