Acquisition of military helmets
The helmet will be tendered as a “Military off-the-shelf” product. The helmet must have a high protection level against both fragments & projectiles. Furthermore the helmet must have been Operational Tested; which means that the helmet has been tested by a unit from NATO Allies partner with a documented appertaining evaluation.
Minimum requirements:
The coverage area of the helmet must correspond to MEDIUM CUT (ACH).
To support the soldier’s situational awareness the helmet must be available in 4 sizes covering a circumference of 54-64 centimetres and there must be 2 possibilities of adjusting the helmet ensuring that it can be firmly tightened. The construction of the helmet must allow the adjustment to be carried out using one hand without leaving any loose straps.
The helmet retention system must, as a minimum, be a four point harness system.
Furthermore, the helmet must be designed to be used by soldiers operating the weapon from either the left or the right side.
The material used should contribute to a low overall weight and the weight of helmets with a circumference of 56-59 centimeters should not exceed 1 250 grams. A low weight with a high protection level against both fragments & projectiles will be given a high score in the evaluation. Ballistic screws must be used.
The helmet must be designed to allow mounting of standard equipment for a combat soldier e.g. sensors, battlefield combat identification, sights and with the possibility to add counterbalance on the back of the helmets.
Mounting of mandible guard to secure the soldier from stroke and shock must also be possible. The helmet must be delivered with or must be prepared for the mounting of a bracket for using NVG.
The helmet must be compatible with protective glasses of the type WILEY-X SABER, ESS-CROSS BOW and REVISION SAWFLY as well as CBRN mask AVORN FM12 and with infantry headset INVISIO X5 (S10).
Mandible guard and helmet covers will be requested in a smaller quantity, however. The cover should be designed allowing the use of rails and NVG. For camouflage of the helmet, covers / net / similar must be available. The helmet must be delivered in Coyote tan/brown.
Spare parts for replacing straps, pads, etc., will be requested.
The following products/accessories are expected to be listed as options to the tender:
a. delivery of the helmet in Multicam ® color;
b. visor for the helmet;
c. a high cut helmet with the same protection as will be demanded for the medium cut (ACH) helmet together with ear protection equipment to be mounted allowing the use of headsets. The protection level for the ear protection must be of the same level as that of the helmet;
d. the medium cut (ACH) helmet certified in accordance with DS/EN 397;
e. delivery of Combat Riot Control (CRC) equipment that can be mounted on the helmet.
