Purchase of the U-53 undulator of the ASTRID2 project
University of Aarhus (the Contracting Authority) is constructing a new synchrotron radiation facility called ASTRID2. The project is mainly funded by the National Program for Research Infrastructure under the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The project will consist of the following principal components:
a. modifications to the existing storage ring ASTRID, which will be used as a 580 MeV booster synchrotron for ASTRID2;
b. a transfer beamline from ASTRID to ASTRID2;
c. a low-emittance (~10 nm) 580 MeV storage ring ASTRID2;
d. two undulators and a multi-pole wiggler;
e. a suite of synchrotron radiation beamlines on ASTRID2, partly based on the existing beamlines on ASTRID;
f. a new beamline, the so-called AMOLine, for atomic- and molecular-physics investigations. This beamline will be equipped with a U-53 undulator.
The facility will operate in top-up mode delivering a quasi-constant circulating current in ASTRID2. Care will be taken to secure a very stable beam, providing one of the best UV/VUV and soft x-ray synchrotron-radiation beams in the world.
This tender procedure exclusively concerns the U-53 undulator of the AMOLine.
